“Ratty” comes to Anderton
Alan Redley was at Anderton Nature Park on Sunday 6th September 2015 when he spotted a Water Vole at the Dragonfly Pond.
This is the only time Alan has seen a Water Vole in the area. It was unexpected, as the River and pond banks in the area are largely man-made engineered banks, rather than the natural banks favoured by Water Vole.
The Water Vole is the largest of the British vole species and has a brown and shaggy coat, a blunt nose, short furry tail and small ears.
The sighting has been reported and entered on the rECOrd database.
