Woodlands’ Walks
These are a series of walks devised by FoAM so that Visitors can familiarise themselves with Northwich Woodlands and appreciate the variety of habitats provided for wildlife.
Some of the walks include their own map. For those walks without a specific map, you can use FoAM’s Explore Northwich Woodlands map, which you can download above or pick up from the Rangers’ Cabin.
Saltscape Trail
‘Saltscape’ is the unique landscape modified by industry, stretching from Frodsham to Middlewich and Winsford and taking in the River Weaver and the Trent and Mersey Canal. This includes the built environment and unique flora and fauna more associated with coastal and limestone habitats.
FoAM became involved with the project through the Saltscape Community Forum. As part of the project, FoAM established way-marked trails through Northwich Woodlands between the Lion Salt Works and Anderton Boat Lift showing the impact of the salt industry on the landscape and wildlife.
