Pod’s Hide

Construction of a hide on this patch of land had long been a dream of local birdwatchers and it was a favourite place for Pete Antrobus. Providing a hide and the associated access path was made possible as a result of a generous donation to FoAM from Debbie Antrobus, in memory of her late husband Pete, whose nickname was Pod.

FoAM members, volunteers and colleagues of Pete, put in a tremendous amount of work to bring the hide, path, fencing and gate to fruition.

Tata Chemicals, Europe, represented by Ian Molyneux, donated stone for the path foundation and Ranger Dave James, enthusiastically supported the hide being built and worked with FoAM and the volunteers throughout the project.

On 23 March 2017, the ribbon was cut by Debbie, who thanked all involved and declared the hide open. It will be available to be enjoyed by visitors for years to come.
