2008 Unilever Dragonfly Award

FoAM Chairman Alan Garner, together with Joanne Redley and Alan Redley, attended an event at the Mechanics Institute, Manchester on 10 April 2008.  The event was hosted by the Mersey Basin Campaign and featured presentations by Maria Adebowale from Capacity Global, who work to tackle environmental injustice and also by Tony Juniper from Friends of the Earth.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 1997 Unilever Dragonfly Awards by Caroline Cooper, Unilever R&D.  A total of five awards were made and Alan Garner, accepted the Group Award on behalf of all the FoAM volunteers who help at Marbury and Anderton.

We were given a splendid trophy made from recycled glass to mark the occasion and also a cheque for £1,000. Alan Garner commented: ‘I was delighted to receive this award on behalf of FoAM.  It is a fitting recognition of the hard work and commitment of our volunteers’. The money will be used to help fund one of the group’s projects.
