2009 Cheshire Show Award

June 2009 FoAM volunteers at the Cheshire Show, which this year benefited from superb weather, and where FoAM participated in a Northwich Woodlands stand.

It was great that the Northwich Woodlands partnership won a “Highly Commended” award at the show from the Cheshire Agricultural Society.  The award was presented by Cheshire Agricultural Society deputy president Sir Richard Baker-Wilbraham.  Cheshire West and Chester Ranger Steph Hefferan and Alan Redley, Chair of FoAM, accepted the award on behalf of the partnership.

It was particularly gratifying to hear John Gittins, one of the show judges, explain that the award had been given in recognition of a ‘unique example at the show of partnership working, bringing together the voluntary sector, Mersey Forest, Cheshire West and Chester Council, the Forestry Commission and Action Weaver Valley’.

He commented that we had ‘a cracking display’ and said the judges had noted that, throughout the show, there were many representatives from the various groups involved in the partnership on the stand and they were all pro-active in interacting with the public visitors.
